Provenance: I needed a painting for the Centennial Exhibition of the Catharine Lorillard Wolf Art Club at the National Arts Club in NYC. This was the juried show that would secure my membership in the oldest women’s art club in America. I had nothing in my studio but unrelated portraits that I had painted from the models. At a loss for a subject, it dawned on me that I could weave the portraits together to form one cohesive painting with a strong design element. Cut them all up I did. I rearranged them into a weaving, and secured them to a museum quality board with rabbit skin glue and photo mount spray adhesive. This was a testament to my faith and to the durability of the pastel medium. I only needed to refresh the highlights. It was juried into the show. Framed and crated, off it went to the Big Apple. The rest is history, as they say, and I am a full, juried member of the art club. And had a wonderful time in New York as well.
